Jennifer Dow-Rowell

Jennifer Dow-Rowell is the Executive Director of SAVE, Safe Alternatives to Violent Environments. She brings more than twenty years of work on gender-based violence and homelessness, holds an MBA and a bachelor's in Anthropology and Women's Studies, earned the Certified Fund Executive designation in 2020, and is a 2022 alumna of the Center for Excellence in Nonprofit Leadership Institute.

Her career began at the Emergency Shelter Program, now Ruby's Place, in Hayward, and continued at Tri-Valley Haven in Livermore, where she started as a case manager and went on to direct homeless services, domestic violence services, and development and community education. She has also been Director of Development and Communications at Community Overcoming Relationship Abuse in San Mateo, Executive Director of the Women's Daytime Drop-In Center in Berkeley, and CEO of the Tracy Community Connections Center. She has served on the board of the California Partnership to End Domestic Violence and the Tracy Community Homeless Taskforce, and currently sits on the board of her local Continuum of Care.

SAVE is the council's own neighbour. It was founded in 1976 by a group of Tri-Cities women supporting survivors of domestic violence, and it reaches its fiftieth year in 2026. From Fremont it runs a 24-hour crisis line answered in more than three hundred languages, a safe house, housing assistance, counseling, a walk-in empowerment center and youth prevention work. SAVE marks the anniversary with its 50th Annual Gala on Saturday, September 12.
